Tips for Women to Looking Fantastic at 55+

There isn’t anything one can do about the natural aging process, but there is absolutely no reason you can’t look positively fabulous regardless of your age. The following tips for women who are 55+ can help you look and feel fantastic in no time.

Wear clothing that fits well

You don’t have to settle for boring, ill-fitting fashion that does nothing for your figure. Clothing that doesn’t fit well can instantly make you appear older and as though you weigh more. Choose clothing that works with your body, not against it. For example, skip the big sweats and t-shirt and opt for a dress in a lovely hue. However, you’ll first want to start by getting a bra that fits perfectly. Many department stores have “bra fit specialists” that will not only measure you so you get the right size, but help you choose products that are ideal for you. Additionally, don’t hesitate to get clothes tailored; it can do wonders.

 Don’t cover up

There is no rule that says you have to wear clothing that covers you from head-to-toe. If you love your legs, show them off in a knee-length dress! Have fabulous arms? Wear a tank top. Forget turtlenecks and go with a v-neck shirt. Fashion is an art form, so don’t be afraid to be creative with it.

Wear vibrant colors

Who says you can’t wear bold colors? You’d be surprised how much a seemingly simple pop of color can instantly make you appear younger. Neutral-colored fashions are great, but they tend to make some women look washed out. If you’ve been hiding that beautiful royal blue dress in the closet, now is the time to take it out.

 Treat your skin right

A dull skin tone can make you appear older. Moisturizing is absolutely essential, not just on your face but on your entire body. Staying hydrated by drinking a lot of water can certainly help as well. You should also consider seeing a dermatologist so you can come up with a skin regime that’s perfectly tailored to you and your needs. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen!

 Wear the right makeup

Dark makeup (for the exception of mascara, of course) can age your face, so opt for lighter colors, such as a rose-colored lipstick or apricot colored blush. Need some help? A trip to the makeup counter at a department store can get you on the right track, and they’ll even help you pick out products.

 Get a face-flattering hairstyle

Your hair should not only make you look good, but feel good, and it all starts with a style that accentuates your face. It doesn’t matter if you wear your hair long or short, blonde or brown, it’s all about what you feel looks best on you. Take a look through magazines and find styles that you like, then consider consulting with a hairstylist for some guidance.

Fashion, hair, and makeup are important, but so is feeling good on the inside. The best tip for seniors – and really for women of any age – is to do what you love. Go out with friends, meditate, take classes, get a pet and, overall, do what makes you happy. When you feel it from the inside, it radiates to the outside, and nothing can make you look younger and more beautiful than that.
